Last day of work was interesting. I didn’t actually get to do much besides clean out my inbox and update my two designers with any outstanding issues. We did haveĀ a nice lunch though, complete with treats from the local outdoor market. It was still bittersweet. I went from being a senior art director with a staff of two designers and past previous tons of interns, to just a consultant. I’m totally on board with this! I get to exchange my knowledge for money as usual, just under different terms in a totally different office space. I’m hoping to find more work, design or otherwise, either via the net or physically wherever I am. With the amount of contacts I have around the world though, I think I might have a good shot!
The walk home from work that evening was pretty spectacular! It was free of all the “I gotta get this or that done this weekend quick before monday” thoughts. But then I realized that my projects for the weekends haven’t quite been the same the past several months anyway. Cheers to new and crazy projects!
That same Friday morning I popped in the doc for a last booster vaccine. By the end of the day, I started feeling scratchy in my throat. Yay, just what I need–a cold, 5 days before my trip. Bleh. Not gonna let that stop me! Spent the day with Ma & a quick visit to Aunt Ron’s to see the kiddies. Ma learned how to Skype!
Then we went to see my nephew, James, play baseball with both sisters, dad and littlest sister’s bf. Bottom of the first inning, his team is winning 19-0. They have a mercy rule, but they still had to play at least 4 innings. I think the final count was 24-0. Amazing.
The goodbyes were hard. Really hard. Can’t get into that right now. But it was a really long few subway rides home.
Last few days of cleaning and organizing was as expected. Boring and totally necessary. Sometimes it does suck being an adult with all these responsibilities and crap. All boxes and last bits are left for Sam to gather up and sort out, including my walk-through with my landlord this coming weekend. –Update fr Sam this morning was interesting. Sorry it was crappy sister!
