Seattle: Day & Night
Two things that struck me when I arrived into the bus depot in Seattle was the dire need to pee and the smiling face of Terris! What a combo, eh?! Sweetest shock ever seeing him there waiting for me and was patient guarding my bag while I hustled off to the ladies room before we tore into downtown in the car. Giddy conversation followed along with a fab sunset enroute to my Airbnb local. Nathan and Tori, my hosts, were on vacation, so I was renting out Tori’s room and met her roommates Kim, Katie & Ryan. Terris and I had a fun night and it was just what I needed to get things rolling in Seattle.
Seattle Sunsets
I ate:
Ken’s Market: In Phinney Ridge was the closest local supermarket in the the neighborhood. I picked up a few staples here as usual.
Red Mill Burgers: On Phinney Ave, a popular local haunt. I had a regular cheeseburger, which included their special sauce and added on a side of fries. The burger was just a patty, so meh on that The special sauce really was the only tasty thing on it. The fries were soggy and pretty tasteless, even after I put salt, malt vinegar and ketchup on them. Whelp, now I can say I ate there.
La Creperie Voila: Had a ham, cheese, spinach crepe, which was nice and filling and oh, so, savory! I needed that after all the chocolate I consumed just hours prior!*
Ray’s Boathouse: Most famous seafood joint in the ‘hood. Fresh, melt in your mouth tuna, best calamari I’ve ever had and some mighty spicy delicious chicken wings! Had bourbon mint ginger julep here-yum!
Pike Place Chowder: Smoked Salmon Chowder in a Bread Bowl…soooogooood!!!! Tiny little shop tucked inside PIke Place Market on Post Alley and was totally worth the wait! Terris took me here mid-day between symphony performances. (more on that below!)
Uli’s Bierstube: Tucked inside Pike Place Market, I had a Cajun Andoullie Sausage sandwich w/homemade slaw and some mustard spread. So spicy! So good!
One of the many bakeries in the market, but I forgot to take a pic of which one…had a soft choco chip cookie that was half dipped in chocolate! Yum!
Piroshky-Piroshky: Had a coffee crumb roll that was so dense and flaky at the same time it was unbelievable!
The Confectional Cheesecake: Three cheesecake bites dipped in chocolate–mint, raspberry white chocolate & salted caramel. They each tasted exactly the same. Still sweet. Def not worth the price tho.
Toulouse Petit: Huge happy hour place! There were so many things to choose from! Tasty cocktail too..Ginger Whip! Terris joined me here too and we ate chicken something in a yummy gravy with smashed potatoes, spicy cajun shrimp & frisee salad w/poached egg and bacon. Yum, yum, yum!
*Stay tuned for some upcoming posts on TONS of chocolate!
I did a lot more than I expected, so Seattle to be continued…
